When your holiday is in a hot climate but there is no beach or pool at your disposal, your wardrobe needs to be a bit different.
If you are planning a weekend away in a southern European city in the summer, you'd better pack light clothes for sightseeing in the heat, comfortable shoes to wonder around and a big bag for the shopping you are going to do!
You will probably need a hat as well, it is always sunny! And we recommend you always carry a scarf or shawl in case you have to dress up your outfit, need to cover your shoulders from the sun or go into a church, or just use as a turban on your head.
Italy is by far our favourite destination. And not just because I am from there. You cannot beat Rome, the eternal city, it was made for walking around. But also Florence and Venice. Head to Puglia and Sicily for some Southern charm. Noto, Taormina, Ostuni, Alberobello, are just a few of a million little towns you could visit. And obviously do not forget the ever-magical Amalfi coast and Cinque terre. The list could go on and on...
We are also enchanted by the Moorish feel of Andalusia with Seville, Malaga, and Granada, where you can experience Arab art and Spanish culture. Have a glass of wine, a cerveza or a tipple of local sherry while admiring the local architecture. Andalusia is extremely hot in the Summer so avoid July and August and dress lightly. If you head to Marrakesh or Fez in Morocco, to get lost in the souks (our favorite hobby), dress in a way that is respectful to traditions. A linen shirt and a pair of khaki trousers paired with pom-pom shoes and a big basket bag are ideal. A Panama hat always completes the look. In the evening, wear a long dress and use orange blossom parfume to spice up the night!
